Vase Culture Ozieri Ancient Art Ceramics Craftsmanship Sardinia
Artifact of the Ozieri culture (or San Michele culture) Civilization that developed in Sardinia approximately from 3200-2800 BC. C.
It takes its name from the locality where the main finds connected to it were found, namely the cave of San Michele near Ozieri, in northern Sardinia.
Finely crafted ceramics with geometric motifs, such as the piece represented here, belong to this period.
Such ceramics were a novelty for prehistoric Sardinia, as until then they were considered typical of the Cyclades and Crete.
This artefact was also intended as a funerary object for the deceased on his journey to the afterlife.

This artifact was created and decorated entirely by hand with the same techniques used in prehistory, subjected to an antiquing process and finally cooked at a temperature of 950° for approximately 15 hours.
