This artifact represents the Kamares style, a painting style named after a location on the island of Crete,specifically a cave on Mount Ida, where the Middle Minoan flourished (around 1800 BC)
The ceramic depicted here has a dark background with red-brown and white decorations with spiral motifs, flowers and an animal represented by a goat. There are three handles and a pourer.
This vase was created and decorated entirely by hand (without the use of the lathe). It was then subjected to an antiquing process and finally cooked at a temperature of 950 for approximately 15 hours.
