Greek Marine Style Amphora with depiction of Octopus Sardinian Artisan Ceramics
ANCIENT CERAMICS REPRODUCTION MINOAN VASE
This amphora totally represents the marine style characterized by the depiction of octopuses. These were a very important symbol for Minoan culture. They not only represented protection, but also wealth and food. The octopus was an expression of the cult of the sea. This style developed around 1500 BC (New Palace period) and its origins probably come from Knossos. Marine-style pottery began to compete with older plant and flower designs and was exported from Crete throughout Greece.
This vase shows the seabed where we can see molluscs, algae and corals.
In this vase there are small imperfections that I did not want to correct because they are often present in the originals.

Mouth width: 22 cm

This ceramic was created and decorated entirely by hand (without the use of the wheel). It was then cooked at a temperature of 950° for approximately 15 hours. I used an antiquing technique that makes it look truly authentic. The stains inside the vase were specifically recreated to document the vase's use as a container.
This is why it is a unique piece in the world.
