Cretan Pithos with Bull Protome and Double Ax Ancient Greek Art
The main motifs of the amphora reproduced here are represented by the protome of a bull and the double ax also called double ax (labrys). For the Minoan people, these were not only sacred symbols but also an expression of their power. There are also geometric and vegetal motifs typical of that period. Triansate artefact.
The original ceramic was found in Psira (a Greek island located near Crete), is dated 1550/1450 BC and is kept at the Heraklion museum in Crete.

This ceramic was created and decorated entirely by hand (without the use of the wheel). It was then subjected to an antiquing process and finally cooked at a temperature of 950 for approximately 15 hours.
